Asphalt Plant Elevator

Asphalt Plant Elevator

Asphalt plant elevators are essential equipment used in the production of hot-mix asphalt. These elevators are specifically designed for the efficient handling of aggregates and fillers during the asphalt production process. Their primary function is to transport heated aggregates to the screen and to move the dust collected by the filter system to the filler silo.

Elevators in an asphalt plant play a crucial role in ensuring that aggregates of the correct size and type are mixed with hot bitumen to create high-quality asphalt ready for application. By efficiently moving materials, asphalt plant elevators contribute to a seamless and effective asphalt production process.

Function of Asphalt Plant Elevators

The asphalt plant elevator is used to move materials from one point to another within the plant. It commonly transfers heated aggregates to the screening unit and carries filler dust from the filter system to the silo beneath the screen.

Asphalt plant elevators are manufactured in two main types: chain-type and belt-type.

  • Chain-Type Elevators: These are the most commonly used elevators in asphalt plants. Chains connected to buckets move materials up and down efficiently. At Alfamix Asphalt, we standardly use specially designed chain buckets, engineered in-house, for maximum efficiency.
  • Belt-Type Elevators: These are less common in asphalt plants. Belt-type elevators are not suitable for high-capacity transport, especially given the average material temperature of at least 140 degrees Celsius. Instead, chain types, such as link chains or lugged chains, are preferred for handling high temperatures and heavy loads.

Components of Asphalt Plant Elevators

  • Buckets: Carry the materials and move them through the elevator system.
  • Chains or Belts: The mechanism that moves the buckets throughout the elevator.
  • Motor: Powers the chains or belts to move materials efficiently.
  • Drive System: Transmits power from the motor to the chains or belts.
  • Control System: Manages the operation of the elevator.

Benefits of Asphalt Plant Elevators

Asphalt plant elevators are crucial for transporting materials safely and efficiently, enhancing the overall productivity and safety of the asphalt production process.
